School Curriculum
At Bulford St Leonard's, we believe the curriculum begins from the moment you enter the school grounds. For 150 years our school has been serving the Bulford community and we continue to strive to develop our curriculum and the range and depth of the opportunities we provide for our children. With many of our children staying with us for only some of their primary schooling we aim to make the most of every minute they are with us.
Our vision of Service, Stewardship and Success: creating a better future for ourselves and all of God's creation is at the core of all that we do, of the decisions we make and curriculum that we offer.
At Bulford St Leonard’s, our curriculum is rooted in high-expectations and ambition for all our pupils and our vision and Christian ethos runs through each and every subject area. Our curriculum sets the foundations for all our pupils to develop a love of learning and the skills necessary to succeed in the next stage of their education and beyond.
Using the National Curriculum as a starting point, we are building our curriculum so that it is ambitious, memorable and provides children with the very best understanding of themselves and the world around them. Our curriculum is planned sequentially, with key knowledge, vocabulary and skills mapped to a granular level, thereby ensuring both students (and teachers) are clear on what they will be learning and how they will learn it. Children build upon prior knowledge and skills and revisit key concepts frequently.
We understand that children cannot aspire to things they have never encountered. We are continuously working to find opportunities to broaden our children’s horizons, expanding their knowledge of the world through first hand experiences, planning for visitors and experts to bring breadth and depth to our children’s experiences. For all children this is important, but for our military children our curriculum supports their ability to adapt to uncertainty as well as develop the strong personal skills they need to be successful in life.
As a faith school, our curriculum is underpinned by the explicit teaching of Christian values. Children, whatever their faith, will understand that they can make a significant difference to each other, have an impact for groups of people, communities and the world as a whole.
