Nicola Blake, Chair of the Bulford St Leonard’s Primary School PTA, visited the House of Commons recently to take part in a discussion about school funding.
“There were about 40 people there from across the country,” said Nicola who was invited to the meeting by PTA UK. “It was interesting to hear how schools in other areas are fairing.
“Schools in rich and poor areas have similar issues with their current funding, and have similar concerns about the government’s much publicised new ‘funding formula’, they’re working out what that will actually mean for their schools.”
Nicola has been chair of the PTA for a year and a half, and last year the group, who are all volunteers, raised £5,000 for the primary school. Events coming up to raise more money include a movie night and Easter bingo.
“We are always on the lookout for new members to join the PTA,” said Nicola. “Even if you don’t have time to attend the meetings but can help at events I would love to hear from you.”
